Chief advisor’s meeting with leaders of seven parties and Hefazat begins
The leaders of the political parties were seen entering Jamuna from 4:30 pm to participate in the meeting. The political parties and organizations include Nagorik Oikya, Gana Sanghati Andolan, AB Party, Gana Adhikar Parishad, LDP, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, Jatiya Gano Front and Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. The meeting will discuss the upcoming national parliamentary elections and the ongoing political situation, according to relevant sources. Earlier, the chief advisor held a meeting with the leaders of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) last Sunday. However, the differences of opinion of the parties on the issue of reforms and national elections did not end in this meeting.
In the meeting with the chief advisor, BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami and NCP reiterated their previous positions on these issues. However, the chief advisor has made it clear that the elections will be held in the first half of February. There is no alternative but elections. If anyone thinks of any other option but elections, it will be deeply dangerous for the nation.
On Friday night, there was a clash between the Jatiya Party (JP) and the Gana Adhikar Parishad activists. Later, the political situation became heated after the Gana Adhikar Parishad leader Nurul Haque was injured in a baton charge by the law enforcement agencies. After that, the chief advisor is sitting with the leaders of the political parties. Almost all the parties in the country, including the interim government, have condemned and protested the attack on Nurul Haque.
